The youngest professional flyers in our wind tunnel are siblings Sina (14 years old) and Robin (11 years old). They are a great example of how even very young people can take part in this still unusual sport and hold a candle to the adults. We spoke to them to find out what they love about bodyflying.<\/p>\n

\n

Together you form the SIRO Gravity team. A very skillful play on words. How did you come up with it?<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Robin’s godmother and her husband came up with the idea. SIRO stands for our first names and also for “zero”. So zero in English. And gravity is the English term for gravity. <\/em><\/p>\n

\n

When did you start bodyflying as a sport and how did you get into it?<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

We have been indoor skydiving for 1 \u00bd years. Our first time in the wind tunnel was at our father’s birthday party. <\/em><\/p>\n

\n

Which disciplines do you train together and are you also alone in the wind tunnel?<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

We are currently training Dynamic 2-way and previously did MFS (Mixed Formation Skydiving). We don’t spend much time alone in the wind tunnel, but we like it. Sina also trains freestyle. <\/em><\/p>\n

\n

That certainly adds up to a lot of training time, doesn’t it?<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

On average, we spend 1-2 hours a week in the wind tunnel.<\/em><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Many indoor bodyflyers are also active in skydiving. What does that look like for you?<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

We made our first jump from 4,000 meters last summer. As a tandem. It was sooooooooo cool! <\/em><\/p>\n

\n

What do you find the biggest challenge in practicing this sport?<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

When you fly together, everything has to be coordinated. You always have to know where you are and where your partner is. You have to maintain eye contact. Some elements are very difficult and have to be repeated often. Communication in the wind tunnel is also difficult, as you can only communicate with hand signals. <\/em><\/p>\n

\n

You took part in the 2022 Swiss Championships in the Windwerk. How did that feel?<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

It was very exciting and we were able to gain lots of new experiences. We also competed with adults and didn’t do too badly. <\/em><\/p>\n

\n

Have you also taken part in other championships?<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The Swiss Windwerk Championships have been our only competition so far. The next ones will take place in March 2023. We will of course be there <\/em>\ud83d\ude0a.<\/p>\n

\n

What is your goal for the future?<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

We would also like to take part in international competitions. <\/em><\/p>\n

\n

What advice would you give to other children\/young people who would like to take up this sport?<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Fun, a little courage and a good body awareness are important.<\/em><\/p>\n

\n

Can you imagine working as an instructor later on?<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Yes of course, we can both imagine that very well! <\/em>\ud83d\ude09 \u00a0 We are super happy that Sina and Robin regularly shake up the wind tunnel with us and are already keeping our fingers crossed for the upcoming Swiss championships.
