Last weekend, the time had finally come: Switzerland’s best indoor skydivers met in our wind tunnel to compete in various disciplines. It was two spectacular days, characterized by really fair competition and a sensational atmosphere. The participants gave their all to show off their flying skills, and some even resorted to a secret doping agent: the morning Bircher muesli from the large “bucket”. The many spectators were thrilled by the show and cheered the athletes on loudly – Sina Huber in particular was accompanied by rapturous applause during her freestyle routine. Our special guests and presenters on the stream were Charles Nguela, Adrian Fenner and Jonathan Hausherr, who not only accompanied the competition in the best possible way, but possibly also got up to a bit of nonsense. The joke of the day, however, came from our youngest competitor Will (12 years old).
ZERO BUSTS 🤣
In the Dynamic 2-way discipline in particular, there were some nerve-wracking waiting times, as the judges had to be very conscientious in their reviews (the equivalent of video evidence in football). The Skydiving 4-way formation was particularly exciting. Ten rounds between Realfl Fire and Airheads developed into a thriller – a tie. The thrilling duel was only decided by Realfly Fire in the tie-breaker, heralding a long-awaited generational change. However, Team Airheads were hit by bad luck right at the start on Friday. One of the team members dislocated his shoulder (ouch!!!) and a replacement had to be found in no time at all. In these conditions, we still say: Great performance!
Here is an overview of which Skydivers and teams won the respective competition:
- Formation Skydiving 4-way: Realfly Fire
- Mixed Formation Skydiving 2-way: Bouba et Frisquette
- Dynamic 2-way: Windwerk Gmür & Rämsy
- Freestyle: Realfly Oli
- Dynamic Solo Speed: Realfly Guex
- Junior-Division/Next-Gen Superstars: Will
Congratulations!!! You can find all the winners here. As all the teams put in a great performance, we not only awarded prizes to the first three places at the award ceremony, but also – as a small consolation and further motivation to train – to the last ones.
The champions went home with a medal and free flight time for further training sessions. The Swiss Championships are also a qualifying competition for the third European Championships and the fifth World Cup, both of which will be hosted by GoAirborne Indoor Skydiving in Macau/Hong Kong from April 16 to 22.
We are of course very proud that the Windwerk teams were even more successful this year than in previous years: first (Windwerk Gmür & Rämsy ) and second (Windwerk Tango & Cash) place in Dynamic 2-way, second (Windwerk Gmür) and third (Windwerk Rämsy) place in Dynamic Solo Speed, also silver (Lena Müller) and bronze (Sina) in Freestyle and finally third place in Formation Skydiving 4-way (Airdrops). Huere guet!!!
After the competition, there was plenty of partying at the after-party, which lasted late into the night.
We would like to thank everyone who contributed to this great event, athletes, spectators and our sponsors Swiss Skydive, AXA, the city of Winterthur, Best Catering, Chopfab Boxxer, Nespresso, Stutz andthe Parkhotel Winterthur. Special praise goes to the entire Windwerk team, who invested a huge amount of energy over the two days and in the preparations. It was a huge pleasure to host the Swiss Championships! Hopefully we will see you again next year at the Swiss Championships in Sion.
